Brook Speltz


Cellist Brook Speltz is in his second year at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. He began his studies at age 7 with Lynn Burrows, at the Pasadena Conservatory, and later with Rick Naill at the Colburn School, and eventually with Eleonore Schoenfeld. In 2002, Brook was the Grand Prize winner in the ASTA regional competition, intermediate division, and later was a finalist in the state competition and a participant in the 2004 national finals. In 2004, he was a finalist in the prestigious Bronislaw Kaper awards. He was a recent winner in the Annual Artist of Tomorrow program of the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony. He has participated in summer programs such as Soundfest in Cape Cod, Bowdoin in Maine, Idyllwild Arts, and the Music Academy of the West, and the Oregon Bach Festival. During his free time, Brook enjoys baseball, basketball, and spending time with friends.
